Foundation board
The First Presbyterian Foundation Board consists of six members who meet four times annually, and as special needs arise. The Foundation is a nonprofit entity, which holds, manages and directs funds of the Foundation, and disburses those funds at the direction of the Session. It is sustained by donations, gifts and bequests as well as by investment income.
The Foundation account is managed by Stifel, Nicolas, and Company investment firm. The firm understands the Board’s commitment to be faithful stewards of the legacy entrusted to it by current and past members and friends of the congregation to fulfill the mission of First Presbyterian Church in our community.
Organ campaign
Since 1923, First Presbyterian Church has praised God with the wonderful sounds of a Skinner organ, Opus 401, now the oldest surviving Skinner organ in Iowa. This historic organ has been well-maintained over the past century but is once again showing signs of its age. It is in need of a major rebuild.
A proposal from P. J. Swartz Pipe Organ Services would address the major problem with both organ console and pipe chamber relay issues. In addition, some damaged pipes will be sent out for repair. The new computer relay system, made by the Syndyne Corporation, would be installed. It is regarded as the best on the market.
From the time of the signing of the contract, the builders estimate 6-8 months until completion. This project fits well into their work plans for 2025 and the goal is to complete the rebuild by Christmas.
The fundraising goal for this special campaign is $70,000.
